Getting to Slovenia by air has been made easy with flights
offered by EasyJet (Stansted), Ryanair and Adria Airways
(Gatwick).
EasyJet (www.easyjet.com)
offers daily flights to Ljubljana in the early afternoon.
Tickets can be bought for as little as 40 GBP return including
all taxes, but this depends on special offers and time when
booked. Typical costs are around 70/80 GBP including taxes for a
return ticket.
Ryanair (www.ryanair.com)
does not choose to fly direct to Ljubljana but flies to 3
boarders of Slovenia, all of which are within 90 minutes drive
from Ljubljana and are flown to daily. All Ryanair-served
airports on the borders of Slovenia (Trieste, Klagenfurt and
Graz) are difficult to get to unless you have your own
transport. If not, the easiest airports to fly to are Klagenfurt
and Graz as you can get a bus into town in order to catch a
train to take you to Ljubljana. Check out

train times. Ryanair’s tickets are cheaper than EasyJet’s but if
you include the extra travel costs to get you to Ljubljana, the
total cost comes close to and can exceed the EasyJet ticket
price.
Adria Airlines is the national carrier of Slovenia and since
EasyJet’s arrival on the Slovene scene, has had to drop its
prices. It offers daily flights either very early in the morning
or late evening. Check out

190 GBP including taxes.
BY LAND
Slovenia, as you are probably now aware, is located in the heart
of central Europe and is as such easy to get to by car. With
only 2.5 hrs drive from Venice and 4 hours drive from either
Munich or Vienna, Slovenia can easily be reached from some of
Europe’s largest cities making Ljubljana an excellent addition
to any planned excursion abroad.
Ljubljana can be reached by twice daily trains from either
Munich or Vienna with trains from Venice being a little more
problematic. Typical travel times are around 6 hours and from
Munich a train ticket will cost you approximately 100 EUR
return.

Swimming to Slovenia is ill-advised.
