Ljubljana CC vs Morton CC 19th April 2008
Cricket season has finally arrived again and it was time for our
first game of the year with old friends Morton CC from Scotland.
Debuting for Ljubljana were Mike O'Dowd and Rok and Gregor
Bohinc. Tom Furness lost the first toss of the year and Morton
chose to bat in damp grey overcast conditions. Ljubljana proved
a little bit too stong for their opposition from the start as
Brad (4 wickets for 4 runs off 4 overs) and Rob Howland ( 2 for
4 off 5 overs ) had them struggling (6 down for 7 runs at one
stage) but they rallied to score 55 in the end, despite some
great bowling by all the debutants (both Bohinc brothers
producing identical figures of 5 overs 0 for 10) Dave Farrell
produced a good performance with the gloves on his return to the
'keepers position
55 was always going to be a difficult target to defend and
Ljubljana socred the runs without too much difficulty and
although Mike O'Dowd (1) gave himself a scare - none of the
debutants joined the notorious Duck-on-debut club which helped
maintained its exclusivity.

Ljubljana CC vs Munich CC 26th April 2008
Another season, another early game against Munich CC, and sadly
another loss to them.
Munich won the toss and batted first scoring 237 all out off 40
overs due to their final wicket falling on the very last ball.
Brad showed some more early season form with ball (4 for 17 off
8 overs) and Urban bowled beautifully without luck (0 for 37)
and Egon chipped in with (2 for 46), but the sensational story
in the field was the debut of Slovene newcomer Simon Kaučič.
Despite only having been to one training in his life, he looked
as if he's been playing all his life when with almost his very
first touch of the cricket ball appeared in the form of holding
onto a catch off a blistering drive to mid-off. The veterans in
our side all cursed under our breath at how easy he had jsut
made that look. When Captain Tom Furness threw him the ball to
have a bowl, he showed why bowling good line and length can pay
off as he uprooted the stumps of a Munich batsman who had
already scored 80 runs and was seeing them like a football. He
managed to get 2 more as well in his spell of 5 overs 3 for 32.
Batting. Ah well that's another story. Despite a fine and
patient 45 not out by Tom Furness, the rest of the team failed
to add any batting highlights at all and we eventually fell
short of the Munch total to the tune of 117 runs.
