Ljubljana lose by 117 runs to Munich CC despite brilliant debut

Local player Simon Kaučič played his first game of cricket yesterday vs Munich CC. He held on to a vicious drive to claim a great catch and then followed that with 3 for 32 off 5 overs. Later on he added 6 runs in his debut innings. This was easily the best debut figures by a totally new player in our club's history. Tom Furness also scored a solid 45 not out and Brad Eve added another bag of wickets in his  4 for 17.

Ljubljana start well with comfortable victory against Morton CC

Ljubljana CC welcomed back old friends from Scotland, Morton CC for the first of its fixtures for the year. A fairly uninspiring grey wet day saw us bowl Morton out for 56 which was always going to be a tough score to defend.

Maribor start season with victory over Mežica

Action from the first cricket of the year at Valburga. Mežica vs Maribor on a gorgeous early spring day

More pictures and story here

The first action of the cricket season took place at Valburga in 2 friendly matches between current Slovenian National Champions Mežica CC and fierce rivals Maribor CC

A 30 over a side game took place followed by a 15 over a side match. Maribor running out winners in both games.

Borut Čegovnik of Mežica CC told me that the day had been a great success and that some major new talent had been found for both clubs with brothers Aleš and Primož Pustoslemšek making notable debuts for Mežica (Aleš top scoring for Mežica and indeed the whole match with 25)
