Bela Krajina Cricket Club made its official debut at Valburga on May 12th 2007.

Essentially formed due to the passion of the well-known and respected Jakofčič family, Bela Krajina will be able to boast at least 2 Slovenian representatives and we are sure one or two more will play for Slovenia in the future.

Egon Jakofčič has built a practice net in his back yard behind his family pub down in lovely Bela Krajina. This is certainly the first cricket net ever built in the country. He, brother Robi, son Uroš and friend Janez Tomažič have been secretly practicing away down there away from the prying eyes of the rest of the country. Egon has told us that they have a number of local enthusiasts who have joined up and it will be great to see how well they do.

BELA KRAJINA WINS FIRST EVER MATCH

Saturday May the 12th, 11am at Valburga oval Egon Jakofčič won the toss and chose to bat in their historic first match against Maribor CC. by 1pm it had proven to be a successful debut and Egon and the boys could now celebrate. BELA KRAJINA FINISH 3RD IN FIRST NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

After losing their crucial match vs Mežica CC, Bela Krajina CC defeated Ljubljana Slovenes to finish 3rd in the inaugural Slovene National Championships, despite fine performances from many of their players. Robi Jakofčič was the only player to reach 50 on either day and14 year old Martin Kobetič was named bowler of the tournament for his regular collection of key wickets. With young Uroš Jakofčič, these 2 will hopefully be a strong bowling combination for many years to come.
